mmkay, i'm seriously gonna update more now. i'm out of savannah and getting back on track with some internet access.

werewolves rule.

speaking of things that rule, i'm currently underway with one of my major projects. tentatively named Slammer/Jammer, this comic is about Seamus, an ex-criminal cabbie with a particular score to settle. i'll be sure to update here with any other news or images of that.

hey, i haven't updated this in a while. yeah i know, that (among other things) makes me not as good as James Kochalka or Cheeks...*sigh* i'll just have to live with that. on with the pictures. in order, these are: two designs for a character i like to call Mickey the Toilet imp, the first design for a character named Ronnie, along with his second design with more hair on him, then a scene with Ronnie viewing a quarrel between a pair of contrasting birds. then just some superhero heads of super characters that i like, b/c it sounded like fun (they are Joker, Bizarro, and Etrigan the Demon in case you don't recognize them).

Pantomime anthology submission

Hey guys, this is my submission for my department's anthology, themed on pantomime (that's no words or nuthin' for the rest o yall). There's a good chance it won't get selected (again) because of one reason or another. I'm betting I didn't grayscale it properly or some such. Meh. It'll appear in one o my minicomics.

Also, for all who read this (all 3 of you) and dig Orlando, yours truly will be appearing in MegaCon's Artist Alley in Orlando, March 7-9,2008. If you love me, buy swag. We'll have plenty. The first one is me as a puppet encountering Ann Arbor legend (RIP) Shakey Jake, and then I face down the puppet hating Savannah legend, the anti-abortion sign guy. I end up at a very different puppet party! Then, we've got two no-hands comics I did for my alt comics class. Enjoy!

These are some older pages I dug up to post, since I got a comment from a good friend who's bored of looking at "Bring on the Villains." Aaand since I'm currently nowhere near a scanner or a program to shrink this stuff to web-size, I'll give you some older stuff. This is from my early, early, rudimentary digital lettering days. I was doing a comic based around the lyrics to Type O Negative's "Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare-All)." I used some digital toning for this one as well. Hope you enjoy!

Hey all! Just thought I'd show you a sketch of mine that I took some time to color. It's a bunch o my favorite villains! Clockwise from top left: Severus Snape, Solomon Grundy, Bizarro, Bullseye, Joker, Venom, and ol He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named himself, Lord Voldemort! I just thought I'd color this one up because I actually had some time. I think it came out pretty cool.

Hey all, just wanted to post these. They're my final images for my children's book class. They're excerpts from a story that I've been working on on and off for a while now. Basically, a little boy is forbidden to go to the tower outside the city by his parents, he and his stalwart teddy set out through the scary city, they get there, meet a monster who is an outcast from the city, he transports them, via portal in the tower, to a magical world that is much happier and more fun than the real one. Hope you dig em.

These are "Text in Environment" displays I did for my hand-lettering and typography for comics class. The first is my roller derby comic, aptly titled, "Derby Girl." Depicted is the main bar that serves as base-of-operations. The second is based on a stage play I wrote about my girlfriend and I dealing with an enchanted stuffed cat named Chuckums. This is a page from the "Batman: Gotham By Gaslight"
script that I redid for a class assignment. I struggled a bit with how The Batman himself should look, going through page upon page of character designs. I settled on basically the generic Batman look, but amped up for more contrast to the more antiquated surrounding. Overall I'm happy with how this one came out.

This is a one-page true instance comic I did for my materials and techniques class. It's based on my friend and I having gone to a goth club in downtown Detroit one night. We ran into one of my ex-girlfriends who proceeded to...well...make herself comfortable. I think this piece may look good in color. I may experiment with that at some point.

I call this one "Street Scene." It's a pinup featuring a few characters having a shout-fest at night. I like it. It's based on when I was out walking down Bay Street in Savannah and looking down on a building on River Street. I believe it was either River Street Sweets or Blackbeard's Booty Toy Shoppe.
